SKIN DERMOABRASION

What is Dermoabrasion?

Dermoabrasion is a traditional way of treating skin defects. It is an invasive method whereby the patient has to be under General Anesthesia (GA) and hospitalization. It is a very painful process to "polish" the skin to produce a new layer of skin. Usually the skin is raw and bloody after dermoabrasion as it is difficult to control the skin you want to erase. The success of this method is yet to be desirable even in the hands of doctors. Other methods of exfoliating the skin are masks, facial scrubs and chemical peeling. Micro Dermoabrasion is a new non-invasive technique used to "refine" or "polish" the skin. One need not take leave from work with Micro Dermoabrasion treatment as no local or general anesthesia is required. If the first two layers are peeled, make-up can be used the next day. This is a very safe method as the layer of skin you want to "refine" or "polish" can be controlled with different pressure. This new revolutionary technique is performed easily and its application can be repeated within a short period of time.

Why Micro Dermoabrasion?

The Micro Dermoabrasion Skin System is the only advanced aesthetic equipement used today to remove dead cells from the skin. It marks a new milestone for skin care technology as you can predetermine any layer of the skin you want to erase without clogging the pores - something that cannot be achieved by traditional means. After the skin erasion, you will immediately notice that the skin is very clean, smooth and glowing. The skin is not only the largest but also one of the most complex organs in our body. It has a large surface area about 2 square metres and weights between 5 to 20 percent of the total body weight. The skin is divided into 3 components, normally the Epidermis, Dermis and Hypodermis or Subcutaneous layer. The Epidermis is further sub-divided into 5 layers and in Micro Dermoabrasion this is where the "happenings" take place. The mechanism of regeneration and cell multiplication take place naturally in the regenerative layer every 28 days. However, this transformation does not function very well in skin disorders.

How does it feel?

The feeling of Micro Dermoabrasion is great as it is painless. First timers and persons with sensitive skin may experience a "prickling" sensation initially. As we work on the 4th and 5th layers of your skin, you may feel stronger sensations than that experienced when we worked on the 2nd and 3rd layers. it is bearable and only a matter of getting used to this therapy treatment.

Caring for your skin after Micro Dermoabrasion:

In Micro Dermoabrasion, skin care is important and it is advisable to clean the erased skin immediately with saline solution before applying the skin complex cream to balance the skin PH. As the face is sensitive and delicate, it is advisable not to use antiseptic or disinfectants as these dehydrate the skin. If it is necessary you will be advised to clean the erased skin 3 times a day with saline solution. The "wound" created during Micro Dermoabrasion is clean and healthy for healing. When the cleansing process is completed, the "revitalising" cream is applied to speed up the process of healing. the skin usually heals in 5 to 7 days. Generally skin care after treatment is easy and simle without complication.
